A short focal length shows a wider scene. A long focal length narrows the angle of view and makes distant details fill more of the frame. Sensor size changes the field of view produced by the same lens.

Understand focal length, aperture and distance
Use the simulator above, then compare what each camera setting changes in the frame.
Aperture and background separation
A lower f-number and a more distant background create stronger subject separation. Bring the background closer to retain recognizable detail, or move it farther away for smoother blur.
Subject distance and perspective
Moving closer makes the person larger and exaggerates the size difference between near and far objects. Enable “Keep subject size” to compare focal lengths while the camera distance changes to preserve framing.
